Iran’s trade balance with Turkey falls negative

TEHRAN – Iran’s trade balance with Turkey reported negative after Turkey’s export to the country rose by 37 percent in the first six months of 2016, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.

According to the report, Iran imported $2.597 billion worth of goods from Turkey in the mentioned period versus the $1.892 billion of 2015.
Based on the data released by the Turkish Statistical Bureau, the volume of trade between the two countries fell by 11 percent in the first half of 2016 compared to the same time in 2015 and the amount of Iran’s imports exceeded the exports by $398 million.
Two countries bilateral trade volume stood at $5.436 billion during January-June 2015 while the figure fell to $4.796 billion in the six-month period in 2016.
